I Will Never Forget Her
She was always there when I needed her.
Would always be available to hug.
She never imposed judgment, but always came with comfort.
She came with me wherever I went. I dared not go anywhere without her.
Throughout the years, she grew worn and faded,
But to a little girl, she was as beautiful as the first time she saw her.
She was, my favorite toy.
I was writing my Christmas list as I do every year, thinking about the perfect gift to give everyone. I couldn’t help but recall my favorite toy of all time. It was given to me by my Godmother. A beautiful soft doll with a blue dress. She was my safety blanket and my friend. I still remember how much she meant to me and how much love I gave her.
My sisters still talk about her today because of how much I cared and took care of her. These are the gifts that last a lifetime.
That’s what Gift giving is to me. Not a quick 5 minute decision of what to get someone, but hopefully a gift that will bring about hours of fun and great memories.

What a beautiful post! I had a teddy bear like that, I took such good care of him that now, 25 years later he is still in pretty good shape and sits on my bed at home. (Yes, as a grown up I still have my Teddy Bear.)

Great poem! What a special experience to have a doll like that! I am like you that I want to put a lot of thought into each gift for everyone on my list so that it will be perfect for them. The Target gift card would be AWESOME. I just went there yesterday and am sure I’ll be Christmas shopping there again this season for other people on my list!

That is very sweet! I think we all have toys that we treasured as a child. Mine was a white teddy bear. In fact I still have it.
This reminds me of my favorite doll that I still have! Thanks for the reminder that instead of being focused on giving children a massive volume of stuff that they will never be able to appreciate… it’s so much more meaningful to put a lot of love into a thoughtful gift that creates a memory for a lifetime.
