Ironically, on Friday, which is the day I host my Friday Frustrations meme, my website was down.  I had heard about a plugin for Wordpress that makes websites faster by compressing the images on the site.  When I was installing it, I played with the code a little, or so I thought.

When I tried to go online, I got an error message.  I couldn’t even access my Dashboard.  I contacted my website server, Bluehost who after researching it informed me that I had a corrupted file and had to uninstall and reinstall Wordpress.  I couldn’t figure out which file was corrupted so after trying other options, I realized I had no choice.

When I deleted my account and installed a new Wordpress account, its no surprise that all my posts and comments were gone.  Luckily, I had created a back up before downloading the plugin.  It took me a while to get it back up to normal, and it was only after spending almost an hour with a wonderful and patient agent at BlueHost.  NDickson, your my hero.

So if you are going to take anything from this post, then take this, “Always have a back up of your blog somewhere“.  If it wasn’t for this, I would have had no choice but to recreate my blog again from scratch.

To add insult to injury, without warning, my Entrecard account was deleted.  I guess they must have checked my account during my issues with my site and deleted it because their widget was not present.  I would have appreciated an email giving me a warning.  I would have been able to clear everything up.  My Entrecard account is back up but the value of my account went down to 4 ec.

It could have been worse, a lot worse if I had no back-up.
