Random Tuesday – Girl time, Twitching and Hair

Last Friday, my oldest sister called me and asked if I wanted to get together with all the girls (sisters) for a coffee. I’m fortunate to have 3 sisters who all live fairly close together. But believe it or not, we only ALL get together maybe once or twice a year. Pathetic, I know. We should really take advantage, but it’s hard to fit all our schedules in. O.K that’s me making excuses. I might get together with one or two sisters but to be all together is rare. I had a great time, I usually do. We talked about everything, but mostly taboo stuff that we can’t talk about in front of the kids. I’ll let you fill in the blanks.

You see Jennifer Aniston’s hair? How smooth and silky it looks? No matter how much I try, I can never get it this way. Yes, my hair stylist has no problem, but I cannot afford a professional stylist to come over every morning. When it comes to styling my own hair, I get about as much luck out of it as I did trying to solve a rubik’s cube back in the day. I have been using a hair straightener to do what I cannot. Problem is, I’ve never found one that I really liked. I’ve bought a lot of different kinds that you can get at the pharmacy (Conair, Revlon etc….) but nothing that has really satisfied me. Yesterday, I spent about an hour researching a whole bunch of models and styles. I’ve come to one conclusion, I don’t know anything about flat irons. Any suggestions?
I’m not one who really has the right to complain about someone’s sleeping habits because believe me I have a lot of them. When I was younger, my sister and I shared the same bed and she hated sleeping with me because of them. Let’s just say with three sleep disorders and the occasional sleep walk, I’m not one to talk. But, I just have to mention my Sunday night.
My husband at times twitches during his sleep. This normally does not bother me. I can handle twitching a lot easier than when he Snores Loudly. However, this time it actually woke me up and that is something in itself since I’m a DEEP sleeper. I awoke on Sunday with the bed bouncing. I didn’t turn around since this has happened before. I way laying down facing the other way, very groggy. I felt him twitching a lot more than usual and just as I was about to turn around, he then jumped up and landed on my butt….YES my butt. He then proceeded to hang on so tight. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was dreaming that he was hanging from a cliff. I didn’t want to wake him because it looked like he was already having a troubled sleep so I just let him lie there, on top of my butt for about an hour until he rolled over. He’s not a heavy man but he sure did feel heavy on Sunday night.

Okay, with the hair straightening…I don’t use a flat iron or anything like that but Redken has a product call Smooth Down / Heat Glide (or something like that) that really does wonders for that. Two drops on wet hair, one on dry and it really smooths down your hair and makes it very sleek looking. It’s around $14.95 but mine has lasted around 6 months!
I used to have Jennifer Aniston hair til I cut it. Everyone would tell me I looked like her and I’d say “Oh yeah? Then where’s my Brad Pitt?” Little did I know he’d be a sketchy wacko.

Chi flatirons are supposed to be awesome. I refuse to spend that much on one though. We bought one from Amazon for about $50 that had good reviews. My daughter is happy with it so works for me! I bought it and then cut my hair short… smart!
Your husband’s sleep habits would drive me crazy! I deal with snoring and I am ready to kick him out of bed. That would push me over the edge.

I have 3 sisters as well and we all live within 1 hour of each other. We get together fairly often but never just the four of us. We talk about doing it though it doesn’t happen. I will say that if we are at family gatherings we alway find ourselves seperate from the rest at some point. Always fun!

I have some nutty sleeping habits because I have insomnia. I try hard not to hold other’s sleeping habits against them.
It is nice to meet you

LOL did you ever ask your hubby what in the world he was dreaming. I don’t have any sisters or brothers. Glad you guys had a great time. I can never ever get my hair the way a stylist does when it’s first cut.
I can’t believe you let him hang out on your butt for an hour! I would thumped my husband in the middle of his forehead and told him to get lost!

I also can’t get my hair straight, but my hair dresser seems to do it in no time. I just scrunch it and go with it wavy most of the time.
The sleep story was very funny. I try not to wake my husband up, but if what he’s doing keeps me awake, then I do wake him.

Lucky you to have sisters plus they live nearby. I only have brothers but there are six of them, lol! No girl talks for us but we go along so well whenever we get together. No dull moments at all! As to the hair, have you tried rebonding? it’s so popular here in the phil even if it’s quite expensive. Oh,for the love of straight and silky hair, lol.

I love those sisterly bonding moments
I have two sisters as well, and whenever we get out and just hang with each other, it’s like we’ve been apart for years with all the stories and stuff.
As for the straightening iron, I haven’t got a clue! With my hair type, I don’t even bother anymore. One time I went to have my hair straightened. So the stylist goes on with his straightening iron, and I was really pleased with the result. What’s bad is even before I left the salon, my hair had somehow returned to its wavy state, there goes my money!
I can never get my hair to go straight. I would love to, but it is easier for me to go curly. My husband just snores and that is enough to drive me nuts. I would not be able to tolerate the moving.
aw.. well at least you are able to meet with your siblings. my sister lives 3 hours away from us and she has 3 kids. we always fight but when we’re in good mood, we exchange texts.
I wonder how your hair looks like. I tried using flat iron (but my hair is already straight), and I think everyday use will damage the hair.
aw, in our case, I’m the one who can’t keep still while sleeping especially if I’m too tired. maybe your hubby is just overtired. ^^
Hi Maria, first I want to say thank you for the nice comment on my post about my uncle last week.
I’m glad you had a great time with your sisters. Sometimes I wish I had a sister, that seems like a really neat relationship to have.
I know what you mean as far as your hair – I would love to have Jennifer Aniston’s hair but no matter what products I use, flat irons, etc. it just doesn’t do it!!! My hair stylist recommended the one she uses on me but the brand has escaped my mind
If I decide to buy it I will let you know if it is better than ones I’ve used in the past.
I had to laugh at the visual of your husband, haha. I can’t even imagine what I would be thinking or doing if my husband did that (he is a still and quiet sleeper)! Did he remember his dream the next morning? LOL.

I understand the hair problem. I have been straightening it since I was 14 but would go through them like crazy. The one I found to be the best is the new Instyler. It can straighten and smooth my hair without making it look too flat and it stays shiny! It does very little damage unlike most professional ones.
