For those of you who follow my blog, you know how I’ve mentioned more than once that I have a lack of creativity in the kitchen.  I have two major weaknesses; cooking meals for a large audience and creating quick lunches on the go.  The latter might seem kind of simple, but I tend to stick to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a yogurt.  No creativity, I know.

So when I was approached by GoPicnic asking if I wanted to try their ready to eat meals, I was very excited.  I visited their site and was first very impressed by the extent of products available to order.  I had a hard time deciding which was my favorite and which one I wanted to try.  I was thrilled when I received 5 different packages to sample.

Founded in 2006 to create nutritious, delicious ready-to-eat-meals that have the convenience of being shelf-stable.  President and CEO of GoPicnic, Julia Stamberger first developed it at United Airlines as a way to create new passenger-focused ancillary revenue programs.

gopicnic002 GoPicnic Review and Giveaway

There were many things that I loved about the different packages but here are the main ones:

  • Each ready to eat meal requires no refrigeration or preparation.  All you need to do is simply open and enjoy.
  • All GoPicnic meals contain no trans fats, high fructose corn syrup or added MSG, and are free of artificial colors or flavors.
  • I love the individual packaging of each item.  Not only do you know exactly what your eating but if you don’t have time to eat everything, you can save the rest for later and it still remains fresh.
  • The different variety in each package.  Their full lineup has 20+ ready to eat meals, appealing to anyone’s pallet.
  • How easy it is to just grab and go.  You can bring them to a soccer game, the park, camping, school or anything you can think of.
  • It is so compact that it easily fit inside my son’s diaper bad.
  • Their assortment includes packages such as GoDeli, GoSavory, GoTrek, GoEnjoy, GoPrimo, GoPower, GoEnergy and GoDelight, including selections great for breakfast, a quick lunch, or a snack on the go.

My favorite package was the GoPicnic, Sports Munch.  I brought it with us when my son and I went to see our nephew play soccer.  The game was at 6p.m so it was too early to eat supper before we left but I knew we’d get hungry by the time the game was over.  I could see the eyes of curious parents as I pulled out the package and starting sharing the turkey peperoni slices with Jeffrey.  We then moved on to the apple sauce and chocolate chip cookies and there was still the multigrain crisps to eat.  This package is available online for only $5.99 and you can choose some packages for as little as $2.99.

Another time I brought my kids to my friends house who I hadn’t seen in 7 months.  I brought the GoPower Bagel Chips and Cream Cheese with us in case we stayed close to lunch time.  We arrived at 10 a.m, but I had a feeling we might have stayed for a while.  When Jeffrey told me he was getting hungry, I pulled out the package and starting handing off each individual snack one by one.  My friend’s curiousity was automatically peaked and she started asking questions about what it was.  Her comment, “It looks good”.
