Kids say – Has this day come already?

My youngest is only 7 months so he lets me hold him, kiss him, love him as much as I can give. Believe me it`s a lot. I know that one day, he`ll be old enough to not want to be smothered any more by me.
Jeffrey on the other hand is learning his independence. Part of that independence is not allowing me to use him as a hugging and kissing post as much as I want. That`s o.k, I knew that this would happen once he got older. I also know that one day, he won`t need me in his life as much as I think he does. That`s the day I`m not looking forward to.
He`s already giving me a preview.
The phone rang early in the morning and it was his 5 yr old cousin calling to speak to him. I went over to his room because I heard him just waking up.
Me: The phone is for you. It`s your cousin.
Jeffrey: (Grabs the phone and motions with his hand for me to go away) (he whispers under his breath) go away
After the conversation.
Me: Why did you want me to go away when you were talking to your cousin?
Jeffrey: I wanted some privacy.
What does a 4 yr old need with privacy?
They grow up way too fast. I guess I should really enjoy these early years while I can.

LOL That is too funny. My son does the same thing.
By the way I have another award for you on my website!
Wait till he’s fourteen and you have to drag him out of his bedroom to see him, they grow up way too fast! I have an award for you to, you’re a very popular girl!

Oh kids these days! I have a 4 year old nephew who calls me at home just to ask who’s at home, what we’re all doing, roll call everybody and then say bye. I think it’s funny. Btw, he dials our home number by himself. He memorized it already:D

My six year old is still my love bunny. My pre-teen spends a lot of time telling me how it is my fault (yes, she says that for everything that goes wrong). Enjoy them while they are little and don’t talk back.

Maybe he’s just mimicking you? My own 4-year-old does sometimes ask me to leave her alone, but usually it’s when she’s mad at me. So far I don’t think she has any concept of privacy. If she did I bet she wouldn’t pick her nose at the table so much.

That is too funny. It’s amazing some of the things they pick up.

He sounds a lot like my 3-year-old. My 2-year-old still lets me smother him with hugs and kisses. We still have our snuggle time on the couch together too. I am not looking forward to when he outgrows that. They grow up way too quickly.
I know the independence thing is going to happen sometime, but I still find it hard to reconcile the concept with my 2.5-yr-old. I’m dreading and yet curious about the day it will finally happen.

My 4YO must have overheard a convo I was having because he walked in my bedroom yesterday, patted my arm and asked how I felt emotionally about losing my uterus.

Wow. At 4 he already wants privacy. My daughter is 4 too and she has her independent moments. I wish I could turn back time a bit so I could enjoy her younger years more
