When things were more simple

I was over at my Mother in Law and we were hanging around with my Brother in laws. They are all pretty young since there is a difference of 14 years between my DH and the next brother in the family. My DH is 36 and his brothers are 22, 20 and 17. So they are experiencing different things than my husband of course.
We were chatting about what their goals were in life and how they planned to achieve them. The 20 year old is studying to be an Actor and he also has a rock band, so he’s very much into creativity. He was discussing how he plans to pursue his acting career when he started talking about things he’d love right now.
He had mentioned how he would love to have a car with leather seats. It’s always been a dream of his to drive a car with leather seats. This is what was driving him right now to work more hours. I thought this was fascinating and cute at the same time.
Remember those times when we were saving up for the leather seats, or that beautiful new coat or whatever was our desire at that age? When there was no worrying about paying the mortgage, or electric bills.
I think it’s great that he’s saving up for a car with leather seats (no specification to model, make or year which I found adorable). I don’t know why this stood out so much for me. Maybe because it seems like so long ago when I wanted the same things. Now, what I want is so different. Time changes so much.

It sure does! A difference of nearly 15 years is amazing.

I think it is awesome that he wants to save up and by the car with leather seats on his own. I really enjoyed reading this. He has his mind set and knows where he wants to go in life! That’s awesome!!
Oh, for simpler times! Now all I can think is – would my children destroy the leather seats? Probably, so I think we’ll stick with the cheaper model.
Now I think I’ll have to save the leather seats for my mid-life crisis.

I remember the days when I was young and didn’t have to worry about bills to pay. I would splurge on designer bags and shoes but my priorities have changed when I got married. Now I’m not an impulsive buyer anymore. I still like to shop but mostly things for my son.
Indeed, life and priorities keep on changing as we grow older!

Ah yes. The days of single life. It seems like it was yesterday when I was saving up for a nice stereo
Oh leather seats…I do not miss the way my legs got stuck to them in the summer.

I don’t think I ever had a car with leather seats but I dated a guy that did when I was young. I remember life before kids. It was nice to be able to save my money for nearly whatever I wanted. You are right as we get older our priorities change.
